I'm an early thirty-something writer (and former photographer) living in the state my family has lived and died in for generations. I have an MFA in Creative Writing, as well as two cats and lots of dresses and more books than I'll probably read in my lifetime. (I will try to read them anyway.) Oh, and I'm a feminist.
I write about poems on Structure and Style, along with a friend.
Wobble baby wobble.
Brave - Sara Bareilles

Mirrors (Radio Edit) - Justin Timberlake
I’m A-okay with this being part of my summer soundtrack. Welcome back, JT. (I’m just going to try to forget about “Suit & Tie.”)
Short Hair - Conveyor
“You have short hair but your face is so long.”
Hey, okay, I really like this song despite the fact that my mom heard it and said, “What a stupid song!”
What’s the Frequency, Kenneth? - R.E.M.
“You said that irony was the shackles of youth.”
Things I did not know until today: this song refers to, yes, a clueless person, but the phrase comes from the 1986 attack of Dan Rather by two men who yelled while beating him, “Kenneth, what’s the frequency?” Also of note: Paul Limbert Allman suggested in a December 2001 Harper’s piece, “The Frequency,” that Donald Barthelme had something to do with the beating. Which is ridiculous and hilarious.
Hear the sound of that? That’s my pop culture’d brain exploding.
Lonesome Dreams - Lord Huron
You snuck up on me and suddenly I’m in love.
Ghost Town - First Aid Kit
“But there are things that line my path that I just had to do.”
Bourgeois - Phoenix (via lebkuchens:britticisms)
I’ve listened to this song three or four times. I still am not sure if I like this, which is a sweeping endorsement, I know.
The new album, Bankrupt!, comes out 23 April.
