Will, Mlle Rebecca, and I will be making appearances all over town.
My uncle has the hots for Courtney and is quizzing me about who she’s dating.
And seven more of my best friend, just because.
Happy Birthday* to my dear sweet best friend, Adriane. Happy Birthday to the 27-year-old woman who I have known since she was a 19-year-old kid. In case you’re counting (you being Adriane, the general public, etc.), that’s eight years we’ve been friends. Adriane’s first memory of me is in Bible Study; I used to hang off the bed and ask our friend B if she had any cheese (like Steve Urkel), and I left early when Sex and the City was on. I don’t have a first memory of Adriane, I only have collective memories. I know that she called me, often, during the fall semester of 2003, and she didn’t say much on the phone. It took me a long time and a lot of complaining to realize she just wanted to be friends. But I am always, always, always thankful that she kept calling me even when I was probably rude, because the last eight years of my life have been so much better in her confidence and influence. I could list all of her virtues and the reasons why I love her, but I’m just going to settle for a thousand pictures. This time they tell the story so much better than my words could.
*I would like to think this public Happy Birthday counts because it was not quite midnight in her time zone when I started writing this post. And besides, A was never one to punish a friend for being late.
